The owner purchased this small flat in a fairly derelict condition, along with it came a number of overgrown outbuildings to the rear of the garden. A significant extension to the flat was submitted along with a proposal to demolish the unsightly outbuildings and to replace them with a new garden studio.
After long negotiation with the planning authority approval was granted for both; adding approximately 50% to the existing living area. The resultant space created a large two bedroom flat with an additional garden studio. An internal palette of polished concrete floors with work surfaces in oak and reconstituted stone. Externally the two buildings form mirror images of each other both finished in the same vertical slatted oak panels with sliding glazed oak screens. The boundary edges to the garden are in a complementary horizontal timber slatting
