This project slotted neatly into the hillside of a road with a steep incline. As the property was on the lower side of its semi detatched neighbour we exploited this relationship in the planning permission to gain additional height for the rooflight over the kitchen area.
This allowed for a neat intersection of the glazing with the main body of the house, which is on a raised level, to that of the kitchen. With three highly charged young children the client required robust finishes to the kitchen so all finishes are durable and easy to clean, laminate doors on a birch ply substrate and corian for the worksurfaces.
Completion Date December 2010. Contract Period 20 weeks.
Steven Green, owner: "We went to Martyn with a handful of ideas for what we wanted to achieve, and no real idea of how to get there. He took us in and delivered a house that was pretty much exactly what we wanted. During the design phase, Martyn was able to use his many years of experience to help us short cut through any potential design 'faux pas' we had, even if this meant going against the clients initial designs, which I think is an admirable trait."
